Why: your phone number signs you in and lets family members you invite find you. Google sign-in gives us your name and e-mail for the same purpose.
Your choice: giving a number is voluntary. Without it you can browse every place but not sign in, save, react or use family groups.
Who else sees it: the messaging provider that delivers your code, and Google if you choose it. Nobody else; your number is never shown to other users or sold.
How long and your rights: kept while your account exists. You can see, correct or delete your data at any time from the profile screen, or write to us through the report link on any place page.
